I just uploaded five new photos to the Photography section of the site. I know it’s been forever since I uploaded anything there, but there it is. Enjoy.
On an unrelated note, I’ve not heard from Muse for a while, and I’m getting concerned! Double-you Tee Eff. Seriously. If you’re going to be incommunicado, drop me a line before you circle the moon and there’s a radio blackout. Anyway, there’s that.
Um, yeah, and classes started today. Waking up before the sunrise is hard. I haven’t had to do that for over a year. But I think I’m going to enjoy it. All my classes are before noon, which really leaves my work schedule mostly untouched. Except I can’t open or close anymore, since I’d be in school for open and I’d rather be doing homework and sleeping during close. And now I can go home and play Zelda (Twilight Princess). ¡Hasta luego!

Last year, I resolved to get published. And I sent a manuscript to a magazine. They rejected it (as I knew they would, don’t get me wrong—one can’t expect miracles), and gave me some semi-helpful criticisms. But then my computer turned into a steaming pile of crap, so I couldn’t make changes. Nor can I write anything right now, and I really want to.
Then, in a tragic Briefcase incident, I lost nearly everything related to my story I’ve been calling “Ship” up to now. Briefcases (the file kind) are designed to synchronize files to be carried on a disk between computers. Or something like that. And when removing the Ship folder from the briefcase, it got the idea that I wanted to delete the originals as well (i.e., it was synchronizing), and then they were all gone. Not even to the recycle bin, just the electronic æther. And then I stabbed my laptop with a screwdriver. The LCD screen made pretty colours. And I kept stabbing. And I smelled smoke. And I realized it was probably not a good idea to stab a running laptop with a metal screwdriver. Luckily, I pulled the hard drive, and it was undamaged, so the other files and my myriad of programs should still be there. Luckily, it was all background work, not actual story, that was lost. Maps, ship diagrams, crap like that.
What was I talking about? Oh, right, resolutions. So, I’m saving up for a new computer, and my resolution this year is the same as it was last year: To be published. Oh, and I’m starting school again, so another resolution is to get good grades—something I’ve never been famous for.
What’s your resolution?

I shall call it, “Referral Spam”.
Every now and then, I check out my statistics, just to see if I’m popular (I’m not), and find out how people find my site. And occasionally, who’s stealing my images. I like to look at the list of referring sites and click on them to see how, where, and why people are linking to me or my stuff. Most of them are search engines and whois pings. Which is weird, if you ask me. Anyway, today I went in there and went through the list, and there were a ton of random sites, and when I clicked, I couldn’t find the links or images anywhere. I’ve decided that they somehow sent false referrals to me in numbers great enough to be on my list (it doesn’t take much to be in the top 20 of my list), just so that I would see it and click it. I don’t know if that counts as spam, but driving traffic to your site in any a way that may be considered deceitful is spam in my book.
Odd stuff.
[update]: Actually, it does seem to be pretty common. But my referral logs are not crawler-friendly, so the stupid spammers won’t get any search engine rankings from me. Ha ha ha! Idiots.
