Too much spam

I’m being spammed to death here. I don’t understand how the popular bloggers put up with it. I’m thinking of making it so you have to register to comment, but I’ve always found it annoying to have to sign up on blogs. So, if you would support such an idea, go ahead and register (I’ve activated user registration, but not made it manditory). If every known reader signs up (all three of you), then I’ll go ahead and switch to the mandatory dealy way. If you’d find it too annoying, then don’t. Either way.
The Six Apart Guide to Combatting Comment Spam
This is not, I’m afraid, the information I wanted to give you, but it comes close with the mention of Turing tests and Captchas, which you can usually get as MODs for WordPress pretty easily.
However, what I wanted to tell you about was “dummy” forms. Principle is simple: put a hidden form before and after the actual comment form. Spiders will hit the other forms… the guy had numbers for his own blog and friends’ after implementing it… Google, help me out.. Aha!: Blocking comment spam!. So you don’t need a summary, this guy will help you out.
If you could get a bit codey with it, simply don’t proceed with the comment script if either of the dummy forms has any values in it. (i.e. in the HTTP request reading “if” statement, add one that simply spits and error and stops if the dummy forms fields have defined values).
Luck!

Am I one of the three? I guess I’ll sign up…
Yeah, you and DC and Amakusa… not that they use those names here for some reason…
Who?
Losers really, both of them.
